Trinity & Zion Bowling League     (updated 4/26/10)

2009-2010 SEASON ENDS - Fifty six league bowlers and 28 substitute bowlers joined to make the 2009-2010 season one of the best (and largest) we've ever had!  April 25 was the final gathering of the season as we enjoyed our Fun Night and Awards Banquet.  Folks knew it was going to be a funky night as they drew animal rummy cards to identify lane assignments.  Eventually everyone discovered matching Louie Lobster, Sammy Seal, and Katie Kangaroo (among others) cards and found their lanes along with our weekly devotion (see below). After some initial instructions we joined in Luther's common table prayer and then lined up to select banquet items from a 20' table.  League Awards were dispersed (see more information below) and then the FUN NIGHT began!

LEAGUE WINNERS - Congratulations to LICKITY SPLITS for winning the 2009-2010 Trinity and Zion Bowling League!!!   John & Diane Stellick and Wayne & Audrey Paul combined for a 69-43 record - good enough for first by just a half a point!   Check out the other 2010 Team and Individual Awards on the Individual Stats tab.  If you are looking to see the top bowlers from Week 16, try the Standings tab.

HIGH AVERAGE & MOST IMPROVED - Delphine Brands (163) and Norbert Wilkening (193) snared top honors for the highest average.   Newcomers Sandra Moore (+23 pins) and Joe Richards (+23 pins) showed the most improvement over the season.  Great job to all four individuals!

FUN NIGHT - Fun night started out with BINGO BOWL.  After each frame the bowlers marked out their result on their Bingo card.   Some items were first ball 1, 2 or 3.  Others were 6, 7, 8, 9, Spare and Strike.  Bowlers called out "bingo" when they matched horizontally, diagonally or four corners and raced to claim one of 16 prizes.  Next was the NO TAP challenge.   Top women's prize was snared by Devon Baron who rolled a 200.  Delphine Brands (198) and Connie Hamende (195) finished second and third respectively.  Steve Johns started with 8 in a row, followed by a split in the ninth - but managed to strike out in the tenth to grab first place with a 265.   Doug Blake managed to string 9 in a row before opening in the tenth.  He took second for the men with a 261.  Don Seehausen took third with a 239.

DEVOTION - We often believe we are pretty sure of the things we know.  But have you noticed how often what is "known" about a subject changes as new information or theories are advanced?  Contrast this with the never changing Word of God.  Hebrew 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever."   Take a moment to read this week's Trinity Bowling Devotion - What I Know!

THANKS! - Thanks to all who contributed to make this a truly great season.

IT'S WHERE YOUR FRIENDS ARE

Ever wonder what other folks are doing on Sunday night?    That's not a problem for many Trinity and Zion Lutheran members.  The Trinity Bowling League provides a great opportunity for adult Christian fellowship and fun for men and women!  The league is comprised of fourteen teams with four players each and bowls every other Sunday Night Sep-Apr at Classic Lanes in Steger.

We enjoy a pot luck on special occasions and have our share of good cooks.   Each year we share that talent with the rest of the church by sponsoring a Lenten dinner.  Proceeds from the 2008 dinner were donated to the Illinois Lutheran Student Assistance Fund.

While made up primarily of Trinity and Zion members, we also promote outreach with prospective members. Ours is a non-smoking, unsanctioned 80% handicap league.  This provides just the right blend of entertainment and competition.

Interested in bowling but can't commit to a full season?   We are always looking for substitutes - it is a whole lot of fun and a great evening out!

Trinity Bowling League - It's where your friends are!
