Welcome to Trinity!

Welcome to Trinity!

What to expect when you visit

When you come to Trinity you will see people! People who want to grow in God’s Word and in their faith, people who want to grow at living their faith. You will see people who are new to Christianity and who have been a part of the Church all their lives. You will see people who have sinned and need forgiveness. You will see people who are new to Trinity, and some who come from families that have been here for generations. Although we are many and we all have different stories, we are a family of believers.

But most of all, when you come to Trinity we hope you see Jesus. Jesus is the reason we are forgiven. Jesus is the reason we have heaven. Jesus is the reason we believe. Jesus is the center of everything we do at Trinity.

We hope you join us and become a part of our family of believers. Trinity is a place to come home to!

Where we are

Trinity is located at 1393 Elizabeth Street in Crete, IL.

How should I dress?

Sometimes people wonder how they are expected to dress at a church they have never visited before. Since the Bible gives no dress code, aside from simple decency and Christian humility, Trinity doesn’t make any rules either. On any weekend at our church you may see suits and jeans, high heels and tennis shoes, t-shirts and ties.

Do I have to give money?

The members of Trinity have joined together to carry out and support with their financial offerings the missions and ministries of our congregation. When you visit, you are our guests. Please do not feel obligated to make a contribution.

When we worship

We have three worship services Sunday morning.

  • 8:00 AM is a “Traditional” service, which uses traditional hymns accompanied by a beautiful organ.
  • 9:30 AM is a “Blended” service, which uses traditional/liturgical elements with more contemporary music.
  • 11:00 AM is also a “Blended” service.

What about my kids?

Ideally, you want your children to worship with you so they can learn from your example. But we also understand how young children can be difficult to handle. We have a staffed nursery (called the Children's Activity Center) for babies through age 4. The nursery is staffed during the 9:30 and 11:00 Sunday morning services.

Pastor Martin Bentz serves as administrative pastor.

Pastor Frank Italiano is responsible for Worship and Teen ministry.

Staff Minister Mark Blauert is responsible for Outreach and
Family ministries.

Lori Lorig is our Coordinator for Personal Member Ministry.

Helen Blauert is our Church Office Secretary.

Who we are

Trinity has over 160 years of history in Crete. We love our Lord Jesus, and we strive to live our lives to his glory.

Our Mission Statement is:

Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, a family of believers, shares the gospel of Jesus Christ to nurture God's people and to reach out to bring others to Christ, all to glorify God.

Our Philosophy of Ministry is:

The Three R's
To help us be effective (doing the right things) and efficient (doing things right) in carrying out our mission of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ to nurture God's people and reach out to bring others to Christ, the ministries and programs developed and carried out at Trinity are:
  • Reverent - pointing people to Jesus
  • Relevant - meeting people where they're at
  • Relational - helping build relationships

What we offer

First and foremost, Trinity offers God’s Word which tells us of our sins, but also of our Savior Jesus Christ. To grow in  that Word of God, Trinity offers many different ministries, as well as many different ways to serve.

What we believe

Our mission statement summarizes why we are “a place to come home to.”  As a family of believers we seek to reflect the love of Christ in all that we do – in our relationship with God, with each other, and with the community.

At Trinity, we believe the Bible is the Word of God. Based on the Scriptures, we proclaim Jesus as the true Son of God and Savior of the world. God’s gift of salvation is given to all who believe in Jesus as their Savior.

Trinity is a member of the WELS (Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod). For a statement of what we believe, go here.
